Nestled in the lush and verdant hills of Siu Lek Yuen in Sha Tin, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) thrives in a green, serene and nature-rich environment. Just beyond the campus, in nearby Ma Lai Hau Hang, resides the rare four-legged amphibian, Paramesotriton hongkongensis, also known as the “Hong Kong warty newt” which is also the mascot of the event. The event will also feature an audio guide presented by Professor Simon Ho, President of HSUHK, introducing the unique natural ecology along the route and the university’s commitment to sustainability.
On 20 December 2025, the University will host the “HSUHK Green Eco-Trek Fun Fest”, welcoming staff, students, alumni and supporters to explore scenic nature trails located at Tate’s Cairn and learn about the ecology of the area. This immersive event aims to raise awareness and foster respect for environmental conservation and sustainability.
As part of the event, the campus will host a series of interactive ecological workshops and game booths for participants to engage in hands-on experiences that highlight the importance of environmental conservation, foster community engagement, and promote sustainable development. Participants are welcome to donate HSUHK to support sustainability developments.
Starting from the campus, walk to the nearby nature trails located at Tate’s Cairn, and return to the campus (Total distance: around 3 km)
